things on my mind:
the older i get, the more i miss my parents, the more why’s i’ve figured out, the more grateful i am of them and everything they’ve done for me
what is my passion and where is it going to take me? am i even going to find out before it’s too late?
interesting fact:
Let’s briefly discuss the life cycle of the beef tapeworm, a common human parasite. Adult worms live in human intestines, where they can reach lengths over 3 meters! Segments at the posterior end contain mature embryo capsules that are shed into the intestine and exit the host with the feces. If the feces reach a pasture, the embryo capsule may be ingested by grazing cattle. Once in the cow’s intestine, it hatches, bores through the intestinal wall and rides the circulatory system until it reaches muscle, where it grows into a small worm.
When infected beef is insufficiently cooked and then is eaten by a human, the tapeworm attaches to the human host intestine and starts producing more segments, eventually growing into a sexually mature adult, which will begin the cycle again. Steak anyone?
The nematode parasite Trichinella, which is transmitted by eating undercooked, infected pork causes the disease trichinosis.
